Use this kitchen remodel checklist of things to share with the designer at your first meeting to ensure you have thought of everything before working out a project plan.

o   Kitchen design images you've collected from magazines, websites and/or your camera phone, to give the designer an idea of what you have in mind.

o   Notes on reasons for the remodel, including positives and negatives of the current space, so the designer will better understand how you want to use the space.

o   Notes on any new products (cabinets, appliances, wall & floor tiles, counter tops) you intend to incorporate into your design to better determine any special necessities needed and new space design requirements.

o   List of special design features that you would like to incorporate into the new design and any unique requirements or dimensions that will impact the design of the new space.

o   An outline of the budget you have in mind, with a priority established for the most have products

DREAM KITCHEN WISH LIST

o   Must-have kitchen features.

o   Would-be-nice-to-have kitchen features.

o   Style desired: Casual? Contemporary? Rustic? Traditional? Other?

o   Wood type and cabinet finishes desired.

o   Upgrades and finishing touches desired.

Ask to order samples of a specific wood, door style, stone, glass and finishes.

Completing this check list will prepare you for minimizing the time required for the preliminary design stage and allow you more focus to direct your kitchen designer in capturing your new kitchen vision
